Metal Bare Metal Operator could allow a local authenticated attacker to bypass security restrictions, caused by a flaw when ironic and ironic-inspector are deployed using the included deploy.sh store their .htpasswd files as ConfigMaps instead of Secrets. By sending a specially-crafted request, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to obtain the plain-text username and hashed password or gain access to the management cluster’s Etcd storage.
