Siemens SIMATIC products and SINAUT Software could provide weaker than expected security, caused by the use of legacy OPC services which were designed on top of the Windows ActiveX and DCOM mechanisms and do not implement state-of-the-art security mechanisms for authentication and encryption of contents. A remote authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to launch further attacks on the system.
